The big ‘U’.

Uni is a big deal to a lot of people.

Sure, it’s not the only option for some of us, but for the majority, it’s the goal.

So, what happens if you want to go to uni, but you don’t know what course to study?

We’ve got you covered.

Here are five courses that you guys may not have thought of, but can be interesting to consider.

Bachelor of Criminology

Ever watched Criminal Minds or NCIS?

Or maybe even murder documentaries about Ted Bundy or Charles Manson?

Ooh, this course is for you.

Criminology is the study of criminal behaviour and law enforcement methods, as well as the sociology of criminals.

The main prerequisite for this course is at east 30 in English, or 25 in EAL.

If you think fighting crime and learning more about what goes on in the head of criminals, this one’s for you!

Bachelor of Nursing

This one’s for the people that love to care for others.

Or, you know, people who watch Grey’s Anatomy.

If the nursing life is calling you, it’ll involve looking after patients of all ages, sizes, and personalities.

For this course, you’ll need at least 30 in English or 25 in EAL, as well as satisfactory completion of Unit 1-2 or 3-4 in any math subject.

Don’t be fooled by the stereotype that only females can be nurses, this is now an all around career!

Bachelor of Education

Do you love spending time with children?

Or do you love mentoring and coaching others?

If you have lots of knowledge to give, but you’re not sure what to do with it, why not give education a crack?

Education may seem exhausting, but it is a rewarding career in which you can watch your students grow.

Trust, your eyes will be opened to how much effort teachers really put into their students!

Bachelor of Architectural Design

If you’re into houses and interior design, why not try looking into Architecture?

All around us, we see houses, buildings, and shopping centres that were designed by architects.

Have you ever looked at a building and gone ‘….ew….’?

Maybe if you give architecture a go, you’ll be able to make sure no buildings have to be made fun of ever again.

We see architects in shows like ‘The Good Place’  and ‘How I Met Your Mother’, and if it looks fun to you, scope it out!

Philosophy

Are you that friend that hits the group with the hard-hitting life questions?

Say no more.

Philosophy is the study of existence, morals, and reason.

This course is perfect for those who always wind up having existential crisis, or just want to be the most woke person in the room.

To get into this course, you’ll need: at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature, or 30 in EAL, as well as a bunch of questions about our existence.

While you guys decide on the next step in your education, it’s important to remember that there are so many more options to explore, other than uni.

Success and stability can come from taking a Gap Year, TAFE Course, or other Accredited Courses, just as it can come from Uni.

Widen your options and open your horizon, and pick whichever pathway will benefit you the most.
