While in Year 12 you may come to find out the hard way that School Assessed Coursework (SACs) usually spring up on you, especially in the last few weeks of the term.
And you're left trying to study and prepare for them.
At SAC tutoring, we can’t stress enough these tips to encourage great study habits and ways to feel ready for those upcoming assessments.
1. Know what will be assessed
If you know this, you can be sure you are revising the right content and practicing the right questions to enhance your already built skills.
If you’re unsure, ask your teacher to advise you of the dot points and skills.
You can always refer back to the study designs created by the VCAA to see what can and can’t be assessed on!

For other practise assessments, you can send us your email and we can send them through to you!
Understanding the content that is assessed can provide you with the confidence
that you’re studying the right materials.
At SAC, we ensure that you are being taught content that is relevant to the study design and given plenty of questions that allow you to practice and enhance your knowledge.
Speaking of questions, this leads into the next point.
2. Practice, practice, practice
This not only relates to sacs but exams as well.
While it can be a tedious process, take it at your own pace.
If you need your notes and the content next you have it there, but use it only when you're super stuck!
It is best to apply the knowledge you learnt to practice questions developed by your teacher, VCAA, as well as SAC tutoring develops content that allows you to apply the content in an effective manner.
If you would like to get your hands on some practice sacs, you can send us an email and we’d be happy to offer some!
This way you are smashing out three study methods:
memorising the content and
developing your skill to answer these sorts of questions in a way that is builds your fluency
And, testing yourself on the knowledge to see what you need to brush up on
Make sure you do check over your answers or have a sit down chat with your teacher or tutor to go through them!
As I say, the work is only half done until you check it!
And last tip:
3. Give yourself that break before the assessment
There is really nothing more we can't stress enough than to rest up.
Burning yourself out with the work, will only tire yourself out and you’ll have no ability to think, write or do the assessment.
Which can be devastating if you worked hard to prepare for it.
Take a deep breathe in and out!
There is nothing more important than taking that time to breathe and calm yourself.
When your mind's going a million miles an hour, it can seem like everything is falling apart.
It does have to feel this way if you take that 1-2 minutes to collect your thoughts.
If you’re still feeling like you need that extra boost to prepare and wanting some content to start on, SAC tutoring provides you with that!
The work created is not only made to help you comprehend the topics but allows you to apply your knowledge to application questions.
We want you to study smarter, not harder!
